Helping Mike's Burgers reduce packaging costs by 27% whilst eradicating plastic

Established in 2014, Mike's Burgers initially operated via delivery apps- and subsequently opened three physical locations to meet the growing demand. Historically, they relied on two plastic containers to serve and deliver their food. This, however, posed two distinct challenges, including brand recognition and sustainability, both of which were a high priority to review and improve.

Using our innovation tools, our team of packaging experts proposed to replace their plastic containers with foldable corrugated trays. The new pack had a dual purpose of functioning as both a delivery container and a plate, facilitating use for dine-in and take-out whilst prominently showcasing the ever-important branding of Mike's Burgers.

Thanks to the new corrugated tray, Mike's Burgers has achieved a 27% saving in packaging costs and eradicated the need for their previously used plastic containers. On top of this, there has been a 108% saving in indirect costs such as transport and shipping, as well as a decrease of 0.77 metric tons in CO^₂ emissions. Additionally, the inclusion of their logo on the trays has led to greater recognition in the market, distinguishing them from competitors.
