Smurfit Westrock lights up the community at Kolding Light Festival
Smurfit Westrock was proud to be one of four main sponsors of Kolding Light Festival, an annual event that transforms the city of Kolding into a vibrant stage for light art. As a main sponsor, we helped make the festival possible—and we went all in to create an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Kolding Light Festival invites residents, visitors, artists, and professionals to experience the city in a completely new way through light and sound. With creative lighting designs, video projections, interactive installations, and light art, the urban space comes alive from a fresh perspective, offering inspiration to everyone who takes part.
Over the past decade, light festivals have emerged in cities around the world—from nearby Berlin and Amsterdam to international destinations such as Lyon, Eindhoven, Sydney, and Singapore. What they all share is the ability to reimagine public spaces, blending culture, beauty, and technology in an elegant and meaningful way. Kolding Light Festival proudly stands among these global events.
In addition to our role as a main sponsor, Smurfit Westrock contributed an eye-catching light installation at our plant, which attracted significant attention throughout the festival. We also placed 50 Box Men across the city. Equipped with QR codes on their bellies, the Box Men guided visitors through the festival, offering practical information, routes, and insights along the way.
The festival attracted more than 100,000 attendees, creating a shared experience that brought people together through creativity and innovation.
Our goal was to showcase Smurfit Westrock as the innovative company we are, while also highlighting how important it is for us to actively support the local communities where we live and work. Kolding Light Festival was a powerful example of how partnerships can create meaningful experiences for an entire community.
