For 25 years the Advanced Management Development Programme (AMD) at Smurfit Westrock has been at the heart of our talent development strategy and is a great illustration of how we turn leadership potential into impact by giving people the space, support and stretch they need to succeed. As a flagship offering within the Smurfit Westrock Academy, AMD has played a significant role in shaping many of Smurfit Westrock’s current senior leaders.

The program is designed to broaden participants’ understanding of our global business and the strategic role they will play in its future. AMD brings together colleagues from different functions, divisions and countries, creating a collaborative learning environment enriched by diverse perspectives and guidance from senior leaders. Through cross‑functional teamwork and exposure to meaningful projects, participants develop their strengths, identify areas for growth, and gain new skills and insights. The mentorship and support offered throughout the programme are central to their personal and professional development.

Year after year AMD participants graduate with pride, responsibility, and readiness to step into future leadership positions.

This year’s programme brought a group of 40 participants from 18 countries from across our global network together in Dublin, Ireland, home to our Global Headquarters. The in-person sessions provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen connections, share perspectives, and work collaboratively in an immersive setting. Participants also benefited from direct engagement with senior leaders, gaining deeper insight into Smurfit Westrock’s strategy, culture, and leadership expectations while building relationships that will support them throughout their careers.
