A Fresh Take on Cider Packaging

When Healeys Cyder set out to launch its new still fruit cider range, Flattler, it needed packaging that could match the brand’s distinctive identity while offering versatility, durability and ease of use. Working closely with the cider maker, we developed a high-performance Bag-in-Box® solution that combines standout shelf appeal with efficient production and reliable product protection, helping bring its award-winning cider to even more occasions and consumers.

The Challenge

When UK cider-maker 'Healeys Cyder' decided they wanted new packaging for their new line of Still Rattler fruit cider - Flattler, they turned to Smurfit Kappa to provide a solution. They wanted their ciders to be as accessible as possible, which included catering to a variety of pack formats and usage scenarios. The goal was to develop a Bag-in-Box solution that met all of their requirements

The Approach

Healeys wanted a Bag-in-Box® product that was full-colour print to complement their unique branding, required no glue or tape for assembly, could withstand vigorous supply chain conditions and would provide protection for the cider. We presented a number of different boxed cider options that would meet all of their requirements.

The Result

The end solution was an ‘envelope’ style Bag-in-Box® made from double wall corrugated board, printed full-colour litho and quick to erect, saving time on the production line. By introducing Bag-in-Box® cider to their packaging options, Healeys Cyder can now offer Rattler Cyder in more settings and in a still format, complementing their existing carbonated range.
