See how our Point-of-Sale display for Lindt stays stocked with chocolate for 60% longer
Lindt, the global premium chocolate brand, enlisted Smurfit Westrock to develop a fully recyclable Waterfall point-of-sale display for the Nordic market, leveraging gravity to automatically restock compartments so the display stays filled 60% longer and arrives fully assembled – earning it a Scanstar packaging award.
The Challenge
Lindt, a global leader in premium chocolate, was looking to update its Point of Sale displays in the Nordic market. In line with their sustainability goals, they wanted to move away from plastic and sought to find a recyclable alternative. The new display also needed to consider the refilling process so that the displays do not look empty in-store.
The Approach
Our team of expert designers came up with a ‘Waterfall’ idea, using gravity to automatically fill the display’s compartments. So, when a customer takes the last chocolate bar, a new one slides down and replaces the one just taken. The display was also designed to be delivered fully assembled, so retail staff simply had to remove the corrugated hood and attach the top sign.
The Result
The paper-based design holds 240 chocolate bars and keeps the Lindt displays stocked with chocolate bars for 60% longer than before. The extended product exposure time makes the display look more attractive in-store to consumers and the automatic refilling also saves valuable time for the retail staff. This clever display won a Scanstar award at the Scandinavian packaging competition.
