The oil and grease resistance properties of EnShield can enable you to replace rigid plastic, poly-extruded paper and fluorocarbon-treated packaging with a paperboard designed for grease resistant food packaging. 

The EnShield portfolio includes both brown and white substrates, allowing you to customize the look of your packaging, address consumers’ desire for more ‘natural’ packaging and provide a larger print canvas than traditional labels required for rigid plastic. EnShield can:

EnShield® SBS

EnShield® SBS is a sustainable, high-performance paperboard designed to deliver reliable oil and grease resistance for food packaging without compromising recyclability or safety.

Features

EnShield SBS offers a medium* level of oil and grease resistance without the use of intentionally added per/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It is recyclable, made from renewable fiber, and does not require polymer extrusion, making it suitable for direct food contact.

Benefits

This paperboard provides effective grease resistance for takeout, bakery, and frozen food applications while enhancing packaging circularity and end-of-life recovery. It addresses sustainability concerns by eliminating fluorocarbons and polyethylene, improves scrap value compared to poly-coated paperboard, and meets food contact regulations in the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the EU.

Applications

EnShield® Natural Kraft

EnShield® Natural Kraft is a virgin kraft paperboard, brown on both sides, designed to provide superior oil and grease resistance with a natural kraft appearance for a wide range of food packaging applications.

Features

EnShield Natural Kraft provides a high* level of oil and grease resistance with a natural, all-brown kraft look. It offers operational efficiencies over poly-coated paperboards and is recyclable, made from renewable fiber without intentionally added PFAS. It’s suitable for direct food contact.

EnShield® Recycled Board

EnShield® Recycled Board is a recyclable, high-strength paperboard made from 100% recycled fiber that offers exceptional oil and grease resistance without added PFAS, making it ideal for natural-looking, grease-resistant food and foodservice packaging.
