Creating a new delivery food box for Frittenwerk in just 6 weeks

Frittenwerk, a popular German street-food brand known for delivering hot, crispy poutines by bike, faced the challenge of finding packaging that could keep food fresh, maintain crispiness, and stay secure during transport. To meet these needs, Smurfit Westrock designed a sustainable, ventilated box with smart internal dividers that protect each portion. Developed in just six weeks, the packaging ensures food quality, simplifies handling for staff, and supports efficient bike delivery.

The Challenge

The Approach
As part of a Design2Market project, an innovative delivery box was developed using agile design sprints. In just six weeks, five focused workshops brought stakeholders together to refine the concept. Made from sustainable corrugated cardboard, the pizza box-inspired design is optimized for bike delivery, with ventilation holes to keep fries crispy and smart dividers to secure food trays and sauces.

The Result
“At the start of a Design2Market project, it’s crucial to make a clear commitment and ensure the right people are involved in the concise, focused meetings. The result is a packaging solution that meets all requirements while the streamlined process saves significant time. This strong commitment was ultimately the key to the project’s success.”
