We designed a two-piece, glue-free base-and-lid solution that reduced material use, slashed production complexity, and cut costs by 30%, while also lowering CO₂ emissions. The Challenge

Good!D, a producer of pet food supplements, was in search of a retail ready packaging box to hold five jars of dog supplements in a unique format, - one that could be manually assembled without the need for glue or tape. The solution needed to be user-friendly and quick to handle for both customers and retailers, while also maintaining a sleek appearance without any visible tear lines.

The Approach

Good!D initially proposed a packaging concept, but after assessing its feasibility, we identified an opportunity to better meet their objectives with an improved alternative. We designed a two-piece solution that minimised material use while also streamlining production processes.

The Result

The final product was an innovative retail packaging solution featuring a durable base and lid. Based on the final design, this solution achieved a 30% cost reduction and lower CO2 emissions during production by optimizing machine routing compared to the proposed solution. Additionally, its glue-free assembly improved both sustainability and efficiency. The clever design also opened new market opportunities for Good!D, drawing interest from new retailers.
