The Challenge

Grupo PINSA, a leading Mexican company known for its sustainable fishing practices, sought a paper-based packaging solution for 10-pack products of its premier brands, Dolores and Mazatún. Distributed through a wholesaler in both Mexico and the United States, the new packaging had to resonate with consumers, streamline production and significantly reduce waste.

The Approach

As PINSA’s dedicated packaging partner, we prioritized addressing the company’s needs effectively. Using our One Stop Shop model, we provided a comprehensive folding carton sleeve along with a Cluster-Pak machine that offers versatile, high-speed automation. The packaging uses water-based ink printing and requires no glue, making it fully recyclable and helping it stand out at the wholesaler point of sale.

The Result

This achievement enabled the company to replace plastic shrink film with a recyclable paperboard solution that aligns with consumer expectations for convenience, portability, and sustainability. Made from paper-based fiber, which is naturally biodegradable, the new solution not only enhances PINSA’s overall packaging process but also significantly reduces environmental impact. According to our proprietary life cycle analysis tool, it generates up to 83% less carbon dioxide compared to the previous plastic shrink film.
