Ugo, the Czech-based juice-bar brand turned e‑commerce retailer, partnered with Smurfit Westrock to redesign its online packaging, aiming to improve presentation and reduce wasted space. The new corrugated box neatly arranges four juice bottles around a central tea box and brochure, cutting transported air by 63%, boosting pallet efficiency by 29% and lowering CO₂ emissions by up to 35%. The result: stronger customer appeal, lower material use and significant cost and environmental benefits for Ugo.

The Challenge

Ugo, a Czech company, began with juice bars offering fresh, vitamin-rich drinks and healthy foods. Over the past decade, they expanded into retail, and more recently, into online sales. Ugo sought a new e-commerce pack to showcase its products attractively and maximise space efficiency, as its current packaging wastes space during transport.

Our expert packaging designers reworked the layout, with four juice bottles neatly arranged around the tea box and a centrally placed brochure for a visually appealing presentation. This compact design minimised the pack’s footprint whilst ensuring no unnecessary air was transported.

The new corrugated packaging is not only more appealing to consumers but also uses less material and reduces transported air by 63%, resulting in significant cost savings for Ugo. Additionally, the optimised pack size has improved pallet usage by 29% and is projected to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 35%.
