Elevating the fan experience at Odense Boldklub with the Stadium Meal Carrier

Football fans often face the same struggle at stadium food and beverage stands: juggling multiple drinks and meals while trying to get back to their seats. In Denmark, the traditional “stadium platter” — sausages with bread — paired with beer or soda, often leads to spills, frustration, or multiple trips. Odense Boldklub needed a packaging solution that enhanced convenience for fans while helping food vendors operate more efficiently during busy periods.

Smurfit Westrock developed the Stadium Meal Carrier, a recyclable corrugated design that holds two beverages, two trays, and snacks in a lower compartment. Its ergonomic shape allows for one-handed carrying, while its flat delivery and conical construction make it quick to assemble and easy to stack. The design enables staff to prepare the packaging in advance, keeping queues moving quickly during peak times.

The new carrier significantly improves the fan experience, reduces spills, and helps vendors serve more guests in less time. Customizable printing creates strong branding opportunities for stadiums and sponsors. Made from renewable fiber, the carrier is fully recyclable and supports Odense Boldklub’s sustainability goals. The Stadium Meal Carrier’s innovative design also earned a 2025 Packnorth Award.
